Reading Promotion Committee
A. Role
– Foster a vibrant reading culture within the school community.
B. Responsibilities
– Develop and implement Morning Reading Sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesday.
– Organize reading events and activities during lunch time, class teacher periods and/ or on LWLD with Reading Ambassadors.
– Encourage e-reading.
– Monitor student reading progress using Reading Logbook (S1-S2).
– Build a reading-friendly environment in school campus.
– Promote collaboration with teachers, parents, and external organizations to maximize resources and participation in reading culture.
C. Reading Lessons (S1-S2)
– Support S1-S2 Project Learning for promoting purposeful reading among students.
– Develop students’ ability to learn to read by building foundational reading skills such as vocabulary, and comprehension.
– Encourage reading to learn by using texts to acquire knowledge, think critically, and make connections across disciplines.
– Foster a love for reading to promote lifelong learning and personal growth.
